These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Cymothoe (the "Site"), a free educational sailing reference – Learning sheets, Glossary, Quizzes, Daily Challenge, and News. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.

1. What Cymothoe is (and isn't)
Cymothoe is an independent, educational reference for recreational sailing – boat parts, wind and weather, navigation, rules of the road, and anchoring – plus a Glossary, Quizzes, a Daily Challenge, Directories of useful links, and a News section written and posted by Cymothoe.
Cymothoe is educational content only. It is not a substitute for certified sailing instruction, a qualified skipper's judgment, official nautical charts, or your vessel's own safety equipment and manuals. Sailing carries inherent risks, including to life and property. Do not rely on this Site as your sole source of safety information before going on the water.
2. No accounts
The Site has no accounts, sign-up, or sign-in of any kind. Every Learning sheet, the Glossary, Quizzes, the Daily Challenge, and News are free to use with nothing to register for. News items are written and published by Cymothoe directly; there is no public submission form.
3. Site content
Everything on the Site is written and published by Cymothoe. We may correct or remove content at any time.
4. Acceptable use
When using the Site, you agree not to:
- attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the Site or its underlying database;
- scrape or bulk-extract content beyond normal browsing; or
- use the Site for anything unlawful.
5. Site content & intellectual property
The Learning sheets, Glossary definitions, quiz questions, illustrations, and site design are owned by Cymothoe or its creator and provided for personal, non-commercial, educational use. You may not republish or redistribute them commercially without permission. "Cymothoe" and its emblem are used as the Site's branding.

6. Third-party services
The Site is hosted on Vercel and uses Google Fonts to operate. Your use of the Site is also subject to those providers making their services available; we're not responsible for their downtime or changes.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Sailing terminology, rules of the road, and regional regulations vary – always verify against official sources and local authorities before relying on anything here in real conditions.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cymothoe and its creator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages – including personal injury, property damage, or loss – arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content, including while sailing or operating a vessel.
9. Access
We may restrict or block access to the Site for anyone who violates these Terms.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the law of your country of residence if you are an EU consumer.
